Since 1948
Burj el Barajneh camp has been created in 1948, it is the first official camp to host Palestinian refugees in Lebanon. Situated in the southern suburbs of Beirut, it faces many life-threatening issues. Those images recount the destiny of it's inhabitants, the stigmata of war, the fleeting joy of the everyday existence of people awaiting a new life, in a city of cubes piled up one on top of the other. This project was made in collaboration with Arte reportage.
Aisha, in this picture, was born in 1949 in the camp, after her parents were forced to flee their homeland and came to the camp. She grew up here, fell in love, got married, had 2 children, here. She never stepped a foot outside of the camp parameters.
