In a world saturated with colour, zebras stands apart — they are born black and white. Creatures defined not by colour, but by contrast. For this series, I chose to abandon our world of colour and to conform to the essence of zebras. Over several years, I followed their patterns across Africa, from the vast plains of the Serengeti in East Africa to the stark, shimmering salt pans of Botswana. Each image is an equine study, essentially of light and shade, with both graphic and organic elements. Each frame simple and striking, my ‘Born Black and White’ series celebrates a wild creature, one synonymous with my home continent of Africa, and one whose very existence reminds us that simplicity can be profoundly effective, beautiful and powerful.
