NEW YEAR - @jb.0611
In Korea, the new year according to the lunar calendar is called Seollal! There is an overall notation of Lunar New Year, but in Korea, it is commonly referred to as Seollal! On Seollal, families gather to hold ancestral rites, make traditional foods by hand, bow to their parents, and listen to blessings for the new year. However, all of these processes have been greatly reduced in modern society. Families gather together to plan trips, have a simple meal, take a walk, and leisurely share stories about starting the year with each other. I took pictures of many families visiting the palaces that were open to the public for free on Seollal and exchanged New Year's greetings!
