Mention honorable dans la catégorie « Photographie de Rue »
Reading is a silent act.
Those who read withdraw without disappearing. The body remains present, but the gaze detaches itself from its surroundings. Amidst streets, spaces, and sounds, a private space emerges, consisting solely of attention.
In these photographs, I am less interested in the text being read than in the state of reading itself. The gesture, the posture, the slight absence. Reading interrupts the flow of everyday life without stopping it. It is a pause that neither announces nor explains itself.
The readers in these photographs are part of public space and yet detached from it. They do not occupy space, they assert nothing. Their concentration acts as a quiet resistance against constant visibility, against the pace, against the constant need to react.
Perhaps these images show less people reading than moments in which time passes differently for an instant.
