In this series I use my own body as both subject and model in order to construct a male figure through photographic practice.
Rather than presenting identity or self-portraiture in a psychological sense, the work approaches the body as material to be studied, positioned and measured. The staff functions as a stabilizing and orienting element, allowing the poses to be built slowly, almost sculpturally, in front of the camera.
Each image is part of a process of learning how a body becomes a figure — how balance, tension and weight distribution transform a person into form. Repetition is essential: the same body is reorganized across multiple stances, shifting from individual presence toward an abstracted, classical figure.
The photographs are therefore less about depicting myself and more about practicing the construction of representation. The self is used as available matter through which the idea of the figure can be formed.
