Devotion/Distortion - @keyzawidiatmika
The Eesan Urumi Melam dance and music group performed traditional Indian dance in the streets of the Petaling area, Kuala Lumpur, during Thaipusam 2025 on Sunday, February 9. On the same day, thousands of devotees undertook a 15-kilometer pilgrimage on foot to Batu Caves, carrying paal kudam (milk pots) and kavadi as acts of devotion and gratitude to Lord Murugan.
The silver chariot procession, a tradition observed for 131 years since 1894, was also part of the event, carrying the statue of Lord Murugan from Sri Maha Mariamman Temple to Batu Caves. Authorities implemented temporary road closures to facilitate the procession, while large crowds, including tourists, gathered to witness one of the most significant Hindu festivals in the world.
