This picture is set in Colombia, in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, the world's highest coastal mountain range, home to 4 main indigenous groups (Kogi, Wiwa, Arhuaco, Kankuamo) whose ancestral knowledge has been recognised by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Here, we are in an unfinished house of some Wiwa friends, where I am carrying out my PhD fieldwork. The unfinished house allows light to come in and reveal the smoke from the cooking fire. Usually, houses are very dark and taking indoor pictures is very difficult. In this picture, we have Adrian, waiting to eat while his sister Antonia is cooking.
