This project is the story of a further unresolved conflict. A tense calm which shouts without making a sound.
Lefkosia (Nicosia), the capital of Cyprus, is the only divided city in Europe, after the fall of the Berlin wall in 1991.
At the beginning of the nineteen sixties, after gaining independence from the United Kingdom, the population of Cyprus was formed mainly by Greek and Turkish Cypriots. The pacific agreements expected to be reached between the two communities turned into serious and bloody conflicts.
Since the 70s, Greek and Turkish Cypriots have been divided by a so-called "green line", a buffer-zone patrolled by United Nations peacekeeping forces. A shameful fence of silence has separated Cyprus in today's Europe.
With a fence that reminds them that, although the conflict now is unarmed - even though thousands fell during the years of greatest tension in 70s -, the disagreement persists and, for now, there is no solution.
A line of silence that, almost half a century later, encloses unhealed stories that have been told and those that have not been revealed of the last wall in Europe.
